Circuit Board Replacement With Or Without Bluetooth

Metal electronic component with a multi-colored wire harness and connector.

Reliability

Replacing the vintage analogue circuit-board on these vintage radios with a new high quality US-made replacement has many benefits. While the original capacitors and transistors did their job well for 50+ years, many radios are electronically "tired". The addition of an updated circuit-board makes these radios  electronically virtually bullet-proof and allows for features such as Bluetooth or an auxiliary cable if desired.

Function

The front of the radio and its operation however does not change and neither does its "look". We've modified radios for concours show entrants (including Pebble Beach Concours d'Elegance), which requires the radio function as it did from the factory. The knobs, pushbuttons, dial scale and dial light work as they always did. The rear or the radio does have a new wiring harness for easy installation.

Performance

Whether with or without Bluetooth, the power amplifier on the updated circuit board allows for use of  1,2,3 or 4 speakers. You have the option to run modern 4 ohm speakers or the vintage speakers that are already installed in your vehicle. Compared to the original radio's 4 W into 8 ohm, the updated board has, for example, an output of 2x75W into 2 ohms  and 4x45W into 4 ohms. With greatly improved reception and sound quality, the difference is like night and day.

Not Just European

We work on all makes and models car radios from the 1940's through the early 1980's. These include radios installed in domestic US vehicles, whether 6 volt/12 volt or positive/negative ground. Any twin shaft radio with a mechanical station needle can be converted including some tape decks.

Adding FM

Adding an updated circuit board automatically gives your AM radio FM reception. We designate one of the existing pushbuttons for FM selection for easy station selection. No changes are made to the front of the radio whatsoever.

Better Cosmetics

Radios sent in for a modern circuit board conversion are always returned in better visual condition than when they arrived. When applicable, the dial face and pushbuttons are polished and the chassis is cleaned.
